October is here!! So is, "Halloween on Earth, Part One."

And, on Earth, there are Frankenstein monsters everywhere.  That's how you know it's Earth.  "Halloween on Earth," of course, is my follow-up to "Halloween in Space."  I didn't planet that way--it just happened.

Get it?  I didn't planet that way?  Sorry....

Sadly, many of the folks featured in today's post have left the Earth--nearly all of them, in fact.  (Two happy exceptions: Ray Stevens and Lalo Schifrin.) The late singer/TV host Merv Griffin starts us out with what I consider to be THE Halloween novelty of all time, 1962's House of Horrors.  The backing is by Charles (The Thing, Never Been Kissed) Grean, who played a major role in Eddy Arnold's career.  Now you know.

And then things continue in the same spooky-goofy mode, with three 78 rpm sides, two LP tracks, and the rest from 45s, all from my collection.  These will give you nightmares.  Nightmares with a laugh track, but nightmares just the same.  You'll wake up laughing.
